G-BKYG (c/n 23165, line no: 1064, named 'River Exe') was one of 44 Boeing 737-200s originally ordered by British Airways between 1980 and 1984. It made its first flight on November 9th 1984 and was delivered to British Airways several weeks later on December 6th.

After almost 12 years of service, it was sold to Chase Manhattan Bank and leased back on March 31st, 1996. It was bought back on December 3rd, 1998 and subsequently sold to Pegasus Aviation. It flew on lease for Aero Peru, Accessair and Euro Sun.

When it was removed from service and placed in storage at El Salvador Airport, El Salvador in March 2002, it had over 72,000 hours of flight and 24,000 landings (cycles) in its log book.

G-BKYG spent most of its operational life with British Airways, wearing its 'Landor' livery. It then received the 'Poppy' livery in 1997. It ended its service with British Airways in 1998, spending its final year sporting the 'Teaming Up With Britain - Olympics' tail colours.
